Quiz time! Can you name the company or product that goes
along with these slogans?
“Melts in your Mouth, not in your Hand”
“Just do it”
“They’re grrreat!”
“Have it your way”
Odds are you were probably able to get at least of few of
the products or companies behind the slogans (M&Ms, Nike, Frosted Flakes
and Burger King). But what made you
remember those ad slogans and not the one below?
For some reason this ad slogan never caught on, but why?
What makes some slogans more memorable than others? Perhaps it is the brands
overall visibility that contributes to particular slogans becoming common
public knowledge. Molman Dairy is by no
means a national brand, but the “got milk?” campaign started out just in California,
but that quickly caught on and spread across the nation. It seems that the best slogans are concise,
witty or humorous. However, it also
seems that most memorable slogans are typically for fast food, candy or other
less than healthy products. These
companies are the same ones that seem to spend more money on advertising than
any other. Perhaps people are
generally more exposed to certain slogans that others and that causes those
particular slogans to be forever imprinted in our minds.
